We are Patricia and Richard, proud owners of Windy Acres. With a beginning in 2001, we have become an exclusive Rocky Mountain Horse facility. And, although modest in size, our farm boasts Rocky Mountain Horses with foundation bloodlines and the puppy-dog attitude that the Rocky is known for.
Several years ago we were fortunate to meet and become friends with Collette and Jay from Sunset Mountain Ranch. We have partnered with them to provide gaited horse enthusiasts the old foundation bloodlines that we at Windy Acres and Sunset Mountain Ranch have grown to love.
Our horses are cared for, groomed and trained daily. We feed Strategy feeds and quality hay when the grass is not plentiful. Each horse is cared for as if they were royalty and even the young foals are taught at a young age about leading, haltering, trailering, standing for the farrier and cross-tying.

Located in Hudsonville, Michigan, we at Windy Acres have seen almost every type of weather that is so well known to Michigan. The beauty of Spring, the almost unbearable humidity of Summer, the gorgeous colors of Fall and the crispness of Winter. We love it here in Michigan!
The partnership between Windy Acres and Sunset Mountain Ranch took place because both farms were striving for the same thing...... quality, old foundation Rocky bloodlines, and gentle trail ready horses. We felt by partnering together, we could combine our resources and offer gaited horse enthusiasts more.
Trail or Show horses are always available at Windy Acres and Sunset Mountain Ranch. We pride ourselves in the quality of horse that we are able to make available and strive to find the perfect match for each individual rider.
Our goal at Windy Acres and Sunset Mountain Ranch is to not only provide quality Mountain Horses but to make sure that each horse, before it leaves our farms, is the right "fit" for the person who will be riding. We would never sell a horse that is not suitable for the rider just to "make a sale".
